Sri Lanka Bird Habitats
Sri Lanka has some diverse habitats for birds that makes finding and photographing a wide array of species possible. As with any location, some birds are considerably easier to find than others. Its tropical location close to the equator results in ecosystems that are rich: as long as they’ve been left intact. Sri Lanka is also home to a good number of endemic species (birds you won’t find anywhere else) thanks to the fact the country is an island.
Ceylon Bird Club
This club has been in existence for over 75 years and is the premier birdwatchers and bird enthusiasts organization in Sri Lanka. Their wide ranging goals involves collecting records and providing detailed information on all of Sri Lanka’s bird species, carrying out census counts, contributing to journals and studies, and of course promoting the protection of bird habitats throughout the country.
